Greenpoint School of Music

Feed Your Soul with Music!

Greenpoint School of Music is owned and operated by Pawel Ignatowicz, a professional jazz guitarist, composer, and dedicated music educator. With a master’s degree in both jazz guitar and music education, Pawel brings a passion for spirited learning, creativity, and growth to each lesson.

Located in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Greenpoint School of Music offers the convenience of private, one-on-one music lessons tailored to meet the unique goals and interests of each student. We provide instruction in guitar, piano, ukulele, and voice in a welcoming home studio setting that encourages students to ask questions, explore, and challenge traditional ways of thinking. Whether you’re just beginning or looking to expand your skills, our safe and supportive environment helps you push through challenges and discover the joy of music-making.

Our philosophy is simple: music is for everyone. We understand that each student learns differently, and at their own pace, which is why lessons are customized according to individual needs, abilities, and musical interests. Our programs cover a range of styles—from classical and jazz to rock, R&B, and pop—so every student can delve into the genres they love while expanding their musical comfort zone.

At Greenpoint School of Music, we believe in building strong musical foundations. For every student, we emphasize the core elements of music: reading, theory, technique, repertoire, and creativity. This approach fosters a deep love for music and provides a strong technical foundation, all while celebrating each student’s individuality and artistic voice.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Limited lesson times are available, so please contact us through the “Contact” section below to begin your musical journey today!

**Policies**

**Introductory Lessons**
We offer a discounted introductory lesson for each new family, providing an opportunity to meet, discuss your musical interests, and assess if our lessons are the right fit. After the introductory session, please schedule regular lessons according to the student’s age and chosen instrument. If you have prior experience, please bring along any music you’ve worked on before; this helps us understand your background, even if it’s not the material you want to continue with.

**Lessons for Young Children**
In general, children under the age of 5 may not be ready for formal guitar or ukulele lessons. However, we understand that every child is unique, and exceptions can be made. If you have a young child eager to learn an instrument, please reach out to discuss possible options.

**Scheduling and Cancellations**
All lessons must be paid for in advance. Payments are collected during the last week of each month to schedule lessons for the following month. If you know in advance that you will need to miss a specific lesson in the upcoming month, please inform us when making the monthly payment, and you will not be charged for that lesson. Otherwise, lessons are non-refundable, and cancellations cannot be rescheduled.

**Late Arrivals and Missed Lessons**
Please email or call if you are running late. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will forfeit the lesson with no refund. We strive to be present at every scheduled lesson; in the event that we must cancel due to illness or another emergency, we will either issue a refund or adjust your next payment accordingly.
